The Real Deal vs. The Beast Part II

So was anyone else disappointed with the fight between Holyfield and Bates on Friday night? Don’t get me wrong I still consider Holyfield as one of the “greats” of boxing. But the fight Friday was rather disappointing. Yes Holyfield won by TKO in the 2nd round. But still it was a gimme fight. There was no way Bates was going to hold up to Holyfield. Like I said in my previous edition of this I did not hold Bates very highly in the boxing world and I still don’t. The man is huge but has a glass jaw. He cannot take a punch. He got pummeled in both rounds against Holyfield. He would have been out first round if the bell hadn’t saved him there. He did get good connection with a right hand to Holyfield in the 2nd round but definitely paid for it later. In some ways I see this as a rigged fight. Not so much by scorecard or that Bates took a fall for Holyfield, but in the fact that Holyfield came out basically fighting a no-namer. But Holyfield did seem to be in great shape and he seems to be holding up great after the shoulder surgery he had. So at least he has started to pave his way back into the boxing scene. We will just have to wait and see if he still has it with a boxer that’s worth a damn next time.

Didn't Holyfield retire? Last time I heard of him, Tyson had chopped his ear off. I thought he was gone after that.

He should fight the big Russian. The seven feet giant.

Holfield kind of retired a couple years ago to have shoulder surgery. His ear still looks funny where Tyson bit it.:P The Russian might be an interesting fight. Cant remember his name right now but know who you are talking about.
